The successful candidate is expected to represent neurology in patient care, research and teaching and to have both clinical as well as scientific expertise in the areas of neurodegenerative diseases and/or neuroimmunology.
Associated with the professorship are the directorship of the Department of Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Neurological Clinic at the University Hospital °Õü²ú¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô as well as the management of a research group at the HIH. This includes membership in the HIH board of directors.
The proven scientific achievements of the successful candidate should be documented through publications in leading journals in the field and through the acquisition of structure-building third-party funds. Furthermore, the ability and willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration and in particular to design and lead as well as participate in interdisciplinary and translational research networks at the Faculty of Medicine and University are expected.
In the field of teaching, comprehensive experience evaluated as outstanding and involvement are expected, as well as active design of lectures and other teaching formats, particularly in view of innovative curricula in the degree programs taught at the °Õü²ú¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô Faculty of Medicine.
The position has a teaching commitment of two hours per week during the semester.
Required qualifications include a license to practice medicine, postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements for tenure, as well as a board certification in neurology obtained in Germany or an international certification recognized as equivalent by the Medical Council of Baden-Württemberg. If the person to be appointed has a board qualification in neurology acquired outside of Germany, bridging scenarios are available for the duration of the recognition process.
Parallel to this professorship, a W3-Professorship in Neurodegenerative Diseases at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) °Õü²ú¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô with its own research group is being advertised. Close synergies between both professorships as well as between the HIH and DZNE more generally are desired. A co-affiliation is possible.
