This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. The applicant must have an outstanding international reputation in the field of theoretical physics, demonstrated through his/her considerable publication activity and extensive third-party funded projects. The professorship must strengthen the faculty in the fields of statistical and mathematical physics of complex biological systems far from equilibrium, especially from the point of view of applications of stochastic calculus in thermodynamics and statistics of individual fluctuating trajectories accounting for memory effects.

Teaching activities in the full range of theoretical physics in the physics degree programs as well as the supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD theses are expected.

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
