The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences offers three positions as

Ph.D. Student / Junior Researcher in听Microeconomics / Applied Economics

The initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (starting at TV-L E13 2/3).

Your tasks

The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge empirical research in at least one of the following areas:

  • natural resources and environment,
  • climate change and policy,
  • digitalisation, AI and smart technologies,
  • policy impact analysis, and/or
  • production efficiency and markets,

leading to an internationally competitive PhD degree and internationally peer-reviewed publications.

The position will include significant involvement in selected nationally and internationally funded projects, such as various EU Horizon projects (e.g., AGRO-WELL, INSPIRE, WATERGRID, NOVASOIL) or nationally funded projects. He/she will receive high quality supervision from the chair鈥檚 senior academic staff and might be involved in teaching at under/postgraduate level as well as funding acquisition and (global) outreach, if desired. International networking and collaborations are regarded as an integral part of the PhD research experience and are explicitly encouraged (e.g. South America, Asia or Africa). The PhD process will be accompanied by integration into TUM鈥檚 School of Life Sciences or School of Management and participation in the related Graduate School training programs.

Qualifications

The applicants should possess:

  • an excellent or very-good university degree in economics, business studies, agricultural sciences with a focus in economics, or related disciplines
  • strong analytical and methodological skills with a focus on quantitative data analysis (e.g., econometrics, statistics, machine learning)
  • a high motivation and the ability to work independently with a strong team orientation
  • excellent spoken and written English and the will to acquire a certain working language of German.
