The IWM invites applications for the position of a

(Post-)Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

Full-time fixed term for three years, starting March 2025 (or later)
to participate in the project ALEE (Adaptive Learning in Economics Education) project funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation as part of the research group Language and AI in Education (Prof. Meurers). The project aims to develop an adaptive AI-based learning platform individually supporting children in school.
Your tasks:
  • Conceptualization and development of AI-methods for activity generation supporting adaptive learning and for the automatic analysis of learner responses to open tasks
  • Presentation of research findings at national and international conferences
  • Publications as well as documentation of these findings in relevant academic journals
Your profile:
  • Sound knowledge of current computational linguistic models and AI methods for analyzing and generating language
  • Above-average master or doctoral degree in computational linguistics, cognitive science, or related disciplines
  • Experience in software development, machine learning and data analytics
  • Programming experience with Python, R and current ML toolkits
  • Interest in collaborating in an interdisciplinary team
  • Very good command of English; knowledge of German is an asset
