Professor in Intercultural Communication & Business English
(Bes.-Gr. W 2)
at the Center for Business Education (Faculty of Electrical Engineering) at the earliest opportunity.
Responsibilities – academic teaching and practice-oriented research
- Application-oriented teaching with a focus on the bachelor’s degree course “Business Administration with Informatics”: The programme is entirely taught in English and is aimed at international students from currently more than 65 nations. You will teach several modules in the field of Intercultural Communication, Business Communication, modules related to Soft Skill Training, and Business & Academic English.
- Application-oriented teaching in the field of Intercultural Business Communication in the degree courses Industrial Engineering (Bachelor), International Management and Information Systems (Master), and Advanced Engineering and Engineering Management (Master), and others as required
- Coordination of the lecturers in the English, Soft Skills, and Technical English modules; development of a language center
- Based on your expertise in Intercultural Business Communication and professional experience, you will contribute to the development of curricula.
- Supporting students in their preparation for studying abroad / international work experience
- Further development of existing international contacts and establishing new ones
- Willingness to acquire third-party funding for own research activities
- Based on your academic and professional experience, engage and advance research at the Center for Business Education and drive interdisciplinary research cooperations
- Active participation in the academic self-administration
- Conducting on-campus and online courses on Saturdays if applicable, with Saturday work being compensated for on another day of the week; creation of teaching materials for self-study
- Conducting courses at all university locations
Competencies – scientifically sound and practice-oriented
- Above-average university degree either in the field of economics / international business or comparable in combination with relevant practical experience in the field of intercultural communication / business communication / linguistics or above-average university degree in the field of communication sciences / linguistics or comparable in combination with relevant practical experience in the field of economics / international business
- Outstanding doctoral degree in one of the fields described above or a comparable scientific qualification
- Relevant experience in teaching and developing curricula in line with the vacant profile
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience, at least 3 of them outside academia
- Excellent didactic skills (especially regarding eLearning and modern teaching concepts)
- German language skills at a native level
- Demonstrated English language proficiency at a native level
- Teaching competence and pedagogical aptitude
