The energy transition towards a more sustainable energy system is the central challenge of this century.

This professorship at our vibrant and rapidly growing European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) offers you the opportunity to train the next generation of young engineering specialists and promote innovative research for viable energy solutions. The areas of teaching and research include, among others, the entire field of future energy systems, ranging from computer simulation in energy and resource economics to the development of new and sustainable energy technologies.

In order to provide our students with a modern and practice-oriented education, your tasks will not only include teaching, but also proactively shaping the development of our campus, its study programmes and related activities, and participating in self-administration.

your profile

We are looking for an experienced, creative and motivated academic candidate holding a PhD degree in engineering or natural sciences, who will contribute to further developing our activities and strengthening the international reputation of our location.

A solid background in modelling of energy systems and internationally recognized professional experience in the area of energy systems are required. The profile should include interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in the field of smart decentralised energy systems, including buildings and smart communities, as well as modern assessment and management systems in the energy sector. Furthermore, experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and in the management of R&D projects is desirable.

Due to the international orientation of our campus, English is the language of instruction for the majority of our courses. Therefore, excellent written and spoken proficiency in both German and English is required. Several years of experience abroad and international cooperation with academic and industry research partners are also expected.

General requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Completed university education
  • Exceptional research skills, usually demonstrated by a doctoral qualification
  • Pedagogical aptitude
  • Outstanding accomplishments in the development or implementation of research throughout at least five years professional experience. This must have been acquired after the completion of academic studies with at least three of the five years outside the higher education sector. In some cases, proof of non-academic professional work may be acceptable when a significant part of this work involved the cooperation between the higher education sector and a non-academic body over a minimum period of five years.
The standard teaching requirement for professors at universities of applied sciences is 18 teaching units per week per semester (full-time).

Those below the age of 52 can be appointed as civil servants.

The DIT is considered the most research-oriented and international University of Applied Sciences in Bavaria. Only English study programmes are taught at the Pfarrkirchen campus, which makes the European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) a cosmopolitan and modern working environment. The ECRI is centrally located. It is located in the charming district town of Pfarrkirchen, which belongs to the administrative district of Lower Bavaria and is situated in south-eastern Germany. The town is idyllically situated between the Danube and Inn rivers and offers many leisure activities. Pfarrkirchen has excellent school and educational facilities. Attractive cities nearby are Passau, Regensburg, Linz and Salzburg, and Munich International Airport is only a 90-minute drive away. The proximity to Austria and the Czech Republic places the district town at the center of Europe.
