The Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Goethe University Frankfurt invites applications for the following position in the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science Education as civil servant or public employee starting 01 April 2026:
The teaching duties of the announced professorship include the complete mathematical and mathematics education training of students in the primary school teaching degree program, including supervision of practical school internships. The professorship is anchored in researching and designing the teaching and learning of mathematics at primary level. You have a research focus in mathematics didactics at primary level. A focus on empirical educational research and experience in early mathematics education would be desirable. Requirements for appointment include a relevant completed university degree, a PhD, and a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements in mathematics education, as well as publications in mathematics education research at national and international levels. Depending on the academic age, a proven track record of obtaining research grants is desirable. A willingness to cooperate within the department or within Goethe University and the Rhine-Main-Universities is a prerequisite. Because the professorship is involved in teacher training, candidates are required to have specific experience in this area and should be willing to participate in interdisciplinary initiatives in the field of empirical educational research. Candidates are expected to have three years of practical school-related experience and should be willing to supervise school internships. The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
