We are looking for an outstanding professional with a wide array of knowledge, practical and teaching experience in design, innovative knitting technology and technical 3D product development. The ability to establish a connection between requirements of the field of application, materials and 3D forms is key. This is to be reflected in lectures. The objective for the person filling the position is to advance research and teaching in terms of digitizing the clothing and textile industry. This especially includes innovative garment systems with integrated functional solutions e.g. in the fields of wearables, medicine technology and mobility.
The position requires the representation of the field at HTW Berlin as well as within the industry. The main teaching focus lies on three-dimensional technical product development and the realisation of garments and other textile products.
Lectures are to be held as part of the Bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in Clothing Technology/Fabric Processing and Fashion Design.

Your profile
- Education and qualifications
- university degree (master鈥檚 degree or German university diploma)
- special aptitude to artistic work, e.g. proven by projects and contributions to design
- didactical and pedagogic experience, e.g. in teaching and (professional) training that combines design, innovative knitting technologies and 3D product development
- proven competencies in interdisciplinary and project-oriented work as well as ability to work in team
- Professional experience (essential)
- at least 5 years of professional experience, 3 of which have to be obtained outside of a university preferably in either a company in the fashion/ clothing industry, in one鈥檚 own company or as freelancer, also in an advisory capacity
- Expertise
- profound knowledge of realising product designs on flat knitting machines; knowledge in the production with Shima Seiki are of advantage
- ability to establish a connection between requirements of application, materials and 3D shapes and conveying this complex connection in lectures
- Language skills
- ability to hold lectures in German upon appointment (essential) and English (desirable)
- innovative contributions to the field of expertise
- research experience
- knowledge in sustainability in and digitisation of the garment and textile industry, especially concerning innovative garment systems with integrated functional solutions e.g. in the field of wearables, medicine technology and mobility
- gender and diversity sensitive teaching competencies
- didactical qualifications in teaching groups and individuals
- solution-oriented approach and appreciative communication
- an established network in the textile and garment industry
