We are looking for you to take over the W2 professorship ‘Audio Engineering’ at the Department of Media at ¶Ùü²õ²õ±ð±ô»å´Ç°ù´Ú University of Applied Sciences.
Starting date: as soon as possible / permanent / grade W2
The Department of Media at ¶Ùü²õ²õ±ð±ô»å´Ç°ù´Ú University of Applied Sciences trains media professionals in its degree programmes for a variety of interdisciplinary tasks in companies and institutions. This professorship is assigned to the field of media technology / Audio and Video and requires comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of audio technology, in particular recording studio technology, electroacoustics & sound reinforcement technology, virtual acoustics, analogue and digital signal processing and their application in a media technology context.
Ideally, you have a background in the information technology or electrical engineering sectors and have experience in the development, conception, and design of audio hardware and software as well as the associated measurement technology. You have experience in the field of music and post production. You can produce and teach confidently in a digital recording studio and are proficient in current production formats, including spatial audio.You represent the field of audio engineering in teaching and applied research and are able to teach courses in German and English. A willingness to take on basic courses is a prerequisite (e.g. basic electrical engineering/mathematics).
You enjoy the following tasks:
- Develop research ideas in the field of audio engineering, carry out research projects and make the results available to national and international specialist audiences
- Apply new technologies and teach them in student projects in an application-orientated way
- Use modern methods of university didactics in your courses
- Expand your existing industry contacts and use them for students in teaching and research (e.g. as part of third-party funded projects, collaborations, excursions)
- Participate in the department's self-administration committees, take on responsibility and drive the department forward with innovative ideas
- To participate in interdisciplinary and cross-departmental and cross-university cooperation at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Engineering (ISAVE)
- To inspire students, employees, and external partners for audio-related topics.
Formal aspects, which are defined by § 36 of the Hochschulgesetz NRW:
- Completed university degree with outstanding achievements, preferably in a technical or scientific subject
- Special aptitude for scientific work, usually proven by the quality of the doctorate, alternatively proof of outstanding subject-related achievements. Proof must be provided that the doctorate or subject-related achievements relate to the required fields of application and research.
- Special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods, which have been achieved during five years of professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector, in a field that corresponds to the seeked subject area.
