The Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition, Campus Triesdorf, invites applications for the position of a

Professorship in “Food Value Chain Management” (salary group W2, tenured position)

expected to start in the summer semester 2026 or as soon as possible.
Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:
The professorship should cover the following areas:
  • analysis and management of international and national food value chains
  • management and marketing of food production under consideration of sustainability
  • supply chain and sustainability management in the food industry
  • innovation and agripreneurship in regional and international value networks
  • market and trade research along the food value chain (fair trade, circular economy) and international marketing strategies
  • legal aspects of sustainable food production
Responsibilities:
  • teaching in undergraduate programs, development and later teaching in complementary international master’s programs, in German and English
  • active participation in designing the teaching program with a special focus on sustainable international and national value chains in food production
  • supervision of internships, bachelor’s and master’s theses
  • acquisition of third-party funding for research projects (e.g., from national and international funding organizations or industry partnerships)
  • willingness to collaborate in the strategic development of internationalization activities and in the initiation of collaborations in the international arena
An active involvement in applied research, the supervision of internships, project work, and thesis supervision are required. The teaching load will be largely in English, and participation in the university governance is expected. We offer an interesting field of work at the interface between applied research and practice-oriented teaching with the opportunity for independent further development of the subject area.
Your Profile:
You have a university degree in the fields of agricultural sciences, food technology, economics, economic geography, or a related discipline.
You have teaching experience and a very good knowledge of German and English (at least C1).
Furthermore, you already have experience in acquiring third-party funding and in managing cross-thematic research projects in the area of “from Farm to Table”. Experience in food logistics and in project management is also an advantage.
Requirements:
  1. completed first university degree
  2. pedagogical aptitude
  3. particular ability for scientific and scholarly work as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification (in German: “Gutachten über promotionsadäquate Leistungen”)
  4. furthermore, we require expertise in the application or development of scientific findings and methods obtained during a period of at least five years of professional practice after graduation from university; of these, at least three years must be in a field outside university; professional experience outside university might be recognized if the candidate has spent a significant part of the position working in a cooperation between university and non-university institutions for a minimum of five years
