Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of
at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy. This civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.
Applications are invited from scientists whose research deals with current topics in theoretical chemistry/biochemistry/biophysics using computational methods. Possible topics include, for example, modelling complex systems on multiple length and time scales from quantum chemical approaches to atomic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations, AI-based methods and cheminformatics. The research should be method-oriented, but also strongly orientated towards the needs of current projects in the department and associated research networks. This includes, for example, photo(bio)chemistry, photopharmacology, RNA research, medicinal chemistry or questions of membrane biochemistry and subcellular architectures. The person to be appointed should be internationally recognised.
A willingness to work closely with the Faculty of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy and to participate in research networks at Goethe University, particularly within the Structure and Dynamics of Life and/or Translational Medicine profile areas and the Rhine-Main University Network, is expected.
The successful candidate is expected to engage with the interdisciplinary research at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) and apply for competitively awarded third-party funding.
The successful candidate should strengthen the teaching of computational methods in our biochemistry, chemistry and pharmacy degree programmes and in particular promote the conception of a new MSc degree programme in Computational Molecular Sciences. The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, 68, and 70 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
