The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3.
Scientific environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Natural Sciences, Department of Chemistry, and will be embedded in a vigorous scientific environment. In the context of catalysis, the Catalysis Research Center (CRC), the excellence cluster “e-conversion” and the Transregio 325 (assembly controlled chemical photocatalysis) are hubs for possible collaborations. There is a wide range of additional collaborative research centers and innovation networks at TUM, e.g. in the field of drug discovery.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the field of catalytic method development with a focus on a topical research area such as photocatalysis or synthetic electrocatalysis. The teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs with a focus on organic chemistry.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad as well as commitment for future collaboration with industrial partners is expected (please see for further information).
