The Professorship focuses on the systematic study and historical grounding of all relevant social dimensions of housing, architecture and urban planning. The professorship contributes to an architecture and urban planning that is oriented towards the needs of the population. Research and teaching will focus on topics such as the social aspects of socio-ecological transformation, also in the context of the transition pathway for building, social and demographic change, the development of new forms of living and housing, the interaction of the built environment, digitalization and social action, or the problems of socio-spatial inequality. The broad interdisciplinary spectrum of theories and methods used also includes qualitative and quantitative methods of architectural, urban and housing research. The professorship's basic sociological qualification profile is combined with in-depth specialisations in the fields of housing sociology, architectural sociology and/or urban research.
We are looking for an individual with an academic background in Sociology, Architecture or Urban Planning, who is able to teach and conduct research according to the profile described above and has the potential to qualify for a W3 professorship through excellent academic performance within the tenure track procedure.
The successful candidate will have an excellent doctoral degree, a record of publishing and university teaching experience, and excellent teaching and intercultural skills. Further research achievements, external funding and international experience as well as leadership skills are desirable. Excellent knowledge of German and English is required.
For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society and knowledge transfer.
The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation.
